What to expect at your appointment

Upon arrival at your house, a few minutes will be spent greeting you and your pet, going over some paperwork, accepting payment, and answering any questions you may have. We will explain the procedure based on your comfort level. Do not hesitate to ask questions along the way. We want both you and your pet to be as at ease as possible.

Once your pet is comfortable in a location in your home that you selected, a sedative will be administered to allow your pet to fall soundly asleep before the final euthanasia injection to ensure a peaceful and pain-free passing.

When the sedative has taken effect based on a quick assessment and once your family is comfortable with proceeding, the euthanasia injection will be administered.

After the injection, you can spend as much time as you need alone with your pet. Once you are ready, a clay paw print will be made and a lock of fur will be collected for you to have as a keepsake. If you elect cremation, the doctor will return with a small basket or stretcher to transport your pet to the car. Your assistance may be required for pets weighing over 30 lb and multiple people may be required for pets weighing over 100 lb. Even if your assistance is not required, you are welcome to accompany your pet to the car for your final goodbyes if you wish.

We will notify your family veterinarian of your pet’s passing after your appointment.

If you elect individual cremation, your pet’s remains will be returned to your home from the crematory via shipping with USPS.
