Why choose in-home euthanasia?

Bentley Veterinary Services is committed to partnering with families on some of their hardest days. In-home euthanasia allows for you pets to feel safe in the comfort of their home, surrounded by the ones they love as the gracefully pass. The word “euthanasia” comes from the Greek words “eu” (good) and “thanatos” (death). Euthanasia allows a pet to experience a “good death” instead of having to suffer a slow or painful death. It is our honor in the veterinary profession to help pets live well and die gracefully. Saying goodbye is never easy but doing it at home can be of great benefit to your pet by providing less stress, more comfort in a familiar setting, the ability to spend their final moments in their favorite spot or in your arms, a more peaceful, private atmosphere, and less rush. Choosing to prevent suffering is one of the kindness things you can do for your pet, and we want to make this transition as smooth, peaceful, and caring as possible for you and your pet.

    Euthanasia - $415

    An in-home euthanasia appointment which includes the house call, medications, a clay paw print and a lock of hair cut and placed into a decorative glass vial.

    Private Cremation - $350

    Bentley Veterinary Services will transport your pet for cremation and arrange pickup from Faithful Companion Pet Crematory. Your pet will be privately cremated with no other animals. Faithful Companion will hand deliver your pet’s remains in a cherry wood urn within 1-3 days.

    Communal Cremation - $150

    Bentley Veterinary Services will transport your pet for cremation and arrange pickup from Faithful Companion Pet Crematory. Your pet’s ashes will not be returned to you.

Dr. Amy Smith began Bentley Veterinary Services In-Home Euthanasia from a desire to partner with families to provide compassionate end of life care for their pets. Dr. Smith graduated with her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University before working in private practice. In 2024, she started Bentley Veterinary Services. Since that time she has been honored to come alongside hundreds of families in their hour of need in Franklin and the surrounding community.

  • "I'm heartbroken to have had to call Bentley Veterinary Services, but after almost three years of fighting, our poor boy's cancer had metastasized and there weren't any treatment options available that would improve his quality of life. We called Lap of Love Nashville and CodaPet, and neither had appointments available. Our vet referred us to Dr. Amy Smith @ Bentley Veterinary. She responded immediately, and with such compassion. We made a same-day appointment, and she took the time to ask questions about our boy, medication sensitivities, condition, etc. When she arrived, she did so with kindness and care, taking the time to answer questions. Our children chose to be in the room, and we all snuggled our boy while Dr. Smith administered the sedative and the final medication. After he passed away peacefully and painlessly, she asked if we wanted a paw print or a clay print, and she provided both for both of our kids, as well as a fur keepsake. While it was an incredibly difficult experience, having a vet who clearly cared about our boy and our family was invaluable. While losing a pet is one of the most painful experiences ever, being able to give the final gift of passing away with love is incredibly important. Thank you, Dr. Smith, for your expertise, compassion and immense kindness."
